If it's your first time in Iceland I recommend to drive the Golden Circle. During Golden Circle route it's possible to see so many different spectacular views and nature phenomenons. Sundays are usually free to park in the Reykjavik center so I recommend to leave the car near the shopping area. It's best day to do shopping! I also recommend to drive to Vik. It's a beautiful route with views of waterfalls and black sand beaches. Iceland is famous of its delicious seafood and lamb so I definitely recommend to try the local food.

Skip blue lagoon and save money by going to a different hot spring/bath. Strokur geyser is an amazing attraction. The continental tectonic plate divide on the peninsula is worth checking out. The viking museum is not worth the price for a replica. Do yourself a favor and don't plan to spend more than a day in the capital. Not a lot to see and easy to do everything in a day.
