First of all, don’t overpack. Pack a set of clothes along with your medication in an overnight bag, just in case your other luggage doesn’t arrive when you do. Be patient. Everybody else wants to get to their destination, just like you. If you are renting a vehicle, rent with Budget ahead of arriving. Have your ID and credit card in hand by the time you get to the agent. They will have your car ready and you’ll be on the road in no time.

You asked, "What are the best travel tips, To Do's and highlights you would give to other people? Describe them in 6 sentences or more and you could be this month’s lucky winner and have your entire car rental bill paid for!" 'To dos' doesn't get an apostrophe. Its plural, not possessive or a contraction. To do's is just wrong. You didn't put an apostrophe in tips or sentences because they're plural. You did give month's an apostrophe because it owns 'lucky winner'. Common mistake, easy to not repeat, if you try.

Make sure you have your walking shoes on when you get to Charlotte airport. I couldn’t believe how far it was from the gate to the rental car. Once you get to the rental car it’s super easy to rent a car. It’s also super easy to get out of the airport and onto the highway. Charlottes a great place and working with dollar made it that much easier

Honesty is the best policy!! We had traveled all night from New Orleans back Charlotte to return the car on time. When I turn the rental car in I left my billfold or in the car and didn’t realize it until I had drove off I started heading home. By the time I realized I had left it I turned around went back to the rental company and the young lady by the name of Diane had turned my wallet in to the office for me because she noticed that I left it in the car. I was ever so grateful that she was honest enough to have it turned in to the office and when she seen me come back she knew exactly who I was and told me where I could go and pick it up. I gave her the biggest hug told her thank you and that I would definitely be using this rental company again in the future!!!

Make sure you have all lotions out of bag. Wear easy on easy off shoes. Be polite to others and don’t be in a hurry arrive early. Be courteous to the security personal they are doing their job. Please have id ready when you check in, it helps move things along faster. Eat before you go food in the airport is ridiculously expensive.

The airport is super clean. There's a lot space to rest. It's not a huge airport so you're not going to get lost. People who work there were very friendly and guided people to right location. Only issue I had was TSA way too slow and not friendly at all.

Easy walk from arrival gate to rental car agencies. Good variety of eating/snack places which I took advantage of upon arrival but no time on the outbound leg. Arrived about 4:30pm for a 6:50pm departure and just made it to the gate in time for early boarding. It took only about 10 minutes to walk from security to the gate. I was surprised at the lengthy line waiting for security but the process went smoothly. I had no bags to check so got to the line with time to spare so no major problem for me but I know some people missed their flights because of the time getting through security. Advice: allow at least an hour and a half for security.

Holiday Cars was a great way to rent my business car rental for the High Pt market. Everyone was respectful at Budget. My only complaint is that I had to wait an hour to get my car. There was only one associate working at the counter. I would advise that to improve the customer's view of Budget and Holiday Car Rental that you make the waiting as painless as possible.

The closest airline to the rental cars is American airlines. If flying out of Charlotte using Jet Blue, realize you need to walk to two more terminals. Flight delays seemed regular, as we had to fly over Charlotte for 45 minutes to get approved to land, while our outgoing flight was 1 hour delayed. There are no food serving priority pass lounges available in the airport.

If you are traveling on a holiday, make sure you stop and grab a meal before you leave the airport! Businesses in the local area close up and there's next to nothing open. Charlotte airport has a lot of great meal selections so everyone can find something they like. Finding the rental car area is also very easy in this airport. You don't have to take a shuttle to get to a parking lot off-site. So renting a car is easy. Reserve early, though - it tends to be quite expensive around the holidays.

Be prepared before you leave home with your documentation, credit card, ID/passport. Make sure you read and understand the rental agreement and you have proper car insurance. Exam the car before leave before you even start the car. I review the car’s mirrors, wipers, door locks, door handles and head lights. I keep a plastic bag for trash and I make sure a have a pen and paper. When you are returning the car, make sure you comply with the gasoline arrangement and look in the trunk and interior so you don’t forget anything. Enjoy driving a different car than your own and be safe.

DO the online check-in. It will save you a great deal of stress. Don't be in too much of a hurry to board and you will spend a lot less time in the slow moving line boarding the plane. After landing be patient and let the major part of the passengers exit before getting out of your seat. Standing in the isle waiting for the line to begin moving can be frustrating. If you have a layover, locate you departing gate before popping in to have a meal or cocktail.

When we arrived at the airport they didn't have the van we'd reserved. While space wasn't so much our needs, rather a higher profile vehicle, Miss Rose gave me the choice of SUVs and we were very happy. Driving out from the airport was very busy, ensure you know your route and have your GPS ready to go if needed! Upon filling up your tank, make sure you understand the mechanics of your gas cap. Funny for me, I'm looking all over the car and underneath the floor mat for the 'release button' to open the tank. Even had to get the owner's manual out but couldn't find anything. I played the damsel in distress and asked the patron next to our truck how to get the gas tank released - (she had a Chevy too) and loo and behold - just give it a quick poke! I would have been there all day! Last note - upon returning the car, it looked as if we were going to spear our tires going over the spike sticks (no I haven't rented cars often) once we got back to the rental kiosk. If it says enter - rest assured, you are supposed to enter! Upon hitting TSA, not only were the agents expedient, my two littles were given little sticker TSA badges. We were through in no time! We'll be back, all in all a great trip!!

Airport to Baggage is fine, mostly easy to understand signage. Traffic control to cross to Rental Car facility is a clustered mess, "security" personnel are not logical and waste time, sometimes just sitting together and chatting. Pretty big waste of money there! Bad designs of rental car facility signage (confusing -- I followed the logic and ended upstairs to the Left for my rental car, not knowing the kiosks/check in was to the Right, and was sent back downstairs by the employees in THAT kiosk). The automatic doors to the Rental car areas are all too narrow for passing other customers, banging into the doors. The elevators are super slow in the rental car area (my child, I and loads of baggage sat so long we ended using the escalator twice instead). Shocking that it all looks new, but so terribly designed.

Preview the airport layout provided in most airline magazines before you land at the airport so you know how to get around. Allow your self a little extra time as the airport is being remodeled. Try to rent your car from a rental company (Dollar) that is "on-site" at the airport instead of off-site, as the roads are a little confusing around the airport. Try not to carry-on too much as security at the Charlotte airport is strict and will cause delays. The "E" security gates seems to be less busy then the others because it is at the end of the terminal. The Food Court has a good selection of restaurants. Remember to ask for an area map at the car rental counter. Try to find out what size plane you will on as some smaller planes restrict the size of carry-ons and you'll end up checking your bag at the gate anyway.

Stay alert while traveling. Schedule plenty enough time to return rental cars and get through airport security. Get a good nights sleep before traveling so you feel well rested and not tired when figuring out the logistics of your trip. Always pay attention to your surroundings and say hello or acknowledge the people walking by so they know you saw their face. Eat at the airport even if it may be a little more expensive, its one less thing you have to do or worry about, plus people are happier when they aren't hungry. When traveling with kids, keep a good eye on them and encourage them to sleep on the plane so they don't disturb others around them.

Be on time. Have all documents in order and together. Travel light. Greet all airline and car rental employees with a genuine thank you and smile because serving harried travelers can be very stressful. When picking up the car look it over and find all the right buttons/instruments to use before driving away. Take care of the rental car as if it is your own. Now, sit back, drive safely and enjoy the journey.

CLT is easy to get around. The construction of the airport is a little hectic at times but I have never had any issues getting around or making my flights on time. If you are starting at CLT make sure you give yourself plenty of time to go through security as there are a few places that only have one line and it gets backed up. If you have a lengthy layover you can go to the main hallway/atrium in the airport and sit in rocking chairs, while enjoying piano music. There are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat, both fast and sit-down. There are a lot of options for keeping yourself busy while you wait on a connecting flight.

Save your boarding pass to your phone. It’s much easier than keeping track of paper. Book a compact size car. They frequently run out of this size and you can get a larger car for the same price. Best travel tips: pack light! You usually wear only half of what you bring but remember layers in case it's colder than you expect. Bring a water bottle so you don't constantly buy water and it's always great to have handy on the flight. Also bring snacks :) I highly recommend Air BnB for accommodation - a local feel, local advice of things to do/places to eat, and a great way to save. If you are a runner, go on a run in a new city! It is the best way to see the layout on foot and extra bonus of feeling great after travel. Ask where the locals eat to find the best food and usually much cheaper. :) Bring a camera (or phone) rather than buying souvenirs and enjoy the moments in full - please don't post on social media right away. Be present, have a plan but be open to new things as you go about your days, and look for something non-touristy at least once during your trip. Keep notes of where you stay, what you did, etc - you will want to recall it all one day. Live it up as days go by so fast - and spread joy wherever you go. x

Charlotte Douglas is a beautiful airport. There is still some construction but it was well contained. The airport has placed many food and drink venues throughout - and especially in the secured areas where you spend your layover time. Food variety is good. I especially liked The Pits BBQ restaurant. Airport personnel were friendly, engaging, and attentive. This included the TSA staff and the gate agents and the cleaning crews. Restrooms were clean and fully functional. There were charging stations for computers and phones throughout the facility and especially at the gates in the seating (under the seats).

Airport only 15 minutes from modern downtown (which they call uptown!) with high-rise and new sports stadium and modern art museum. charming historic neighborhoods with a vintage mint that has been converted into a classic art museum. Smooth new highways make driving around pretty easy. City is surrounded by beautiful green countryside and manicured suburbs. 20 minutes south of city is the South Carolina state border where you find a large amusement park with roller coasters. 10 minutes farther south and you're in a former manufacturing town transitioning into a technology hub. Really a lovely mid-size city with all modern amenities, and still a slow-paced southern charm.
