The best advice I can give to travellers is, book your rental in advance. There are great offers online to save a little money. Rental rates are very competitive with Dollar so I advise that you do the homework of calculating what it costs you to use a ride service like Uber or cab instead. On my last trip, I travelled for a conference. I calculated the cost for the car rental, fuel, and parking, and I found the cost to be less than using a ride service. That also gave me lots of freedom to go to see the local sites with my rental car that I would not have gone to with a ride service. In short, rent a car at Dollar and save money and enjoy the added freedom on your trip.

The airport is huge. The five terminals all have separate curbside drop-off and pick-up areas. This sprawling design makes it a pain to navigate by car, but it does mean a short walk from the gate to baggage claim to ground transportation. Consider a hotel or rental car shuttle. If you allow enough time, it can be less stressful to let someone else do the driving. Highways into the airport zone are also saddled with tolls, and a shuttle will let you avoid some of them. However, once out in the Dallas metro area, toll roads will still be hard to avoid.

Best deal offered when all the other rental locations were busy too. Be prepared to leave a security deposit. Staff were professional and prepared. Sometimes, taking a chance on a new vendor is worth the money and time.

1.) Would have been nice if the Dollar DFW had credit card chip reader capability 2.) Would have been nice if the Dollar DFW representative thought of trying some of the other card reader machines 3.) Would have been nice if the Dollar DFW representative could have transferred the prepaid reservation to another rental car company. 4.) I will now always have a 2nd credit card for when I run into a place like this. 5.) Would have been nice if the Dollar DFW representative didn't make me wait in line after each time he had me call my credit card company. 6.) Would have been nice if the Dollar DFW representative offered to compensate us for our lost time and money after we informed them we had to get a reservation elsewhere and eat the prepaid reservation we had with Dollar.

Some travel tips you can use: 1. Make sure you have your license and confirmation number available when pick up your rental car, helps get your car quicker 2. Spend about 10 minutes getting familiar with the buttons and features in your vehicle if you are not familiar with it, it will help so you don't have to pull over later 3. have each passenger on a road trip bring their own PDA/iPad charger, everyone needs one! 4. pack an extra pair of head phones, someone will use them! 5. get cash ($40-60) before heading out on a road trip, it comes in handy 6. Map your route before you leave, there is construction everywhere and its better to know where it is then to be surprised

Always buy the toll pass in Texas. Always prepay gas if the rates are close. Always check your tire pressure and don't ignore the tps. Don't drive near tractor trailers. Avoid the left lane on Texas highways. There are always cars going at crazy speeds. When visting Dallas, you must have barbecue.

Awesome and friendly air port. Lots of good food! We liked the booths that the airport has for sitting in. It was also kind of cool that there was an open religious service on Sunday, we had never seen that before. Easy to travel through, and the staff was really friendly. Overall, I wouldn’t dread coming here again and would actually look forward to it.

Well, DFW Airport is mostly just a place to fly in and out of, so I will give you some tips for DFW: • Stay in an Airbnb short-term rental, it is much more comfortable and less expensive than a hotel. • Shop At A Dillard's Clearance Store (https://www.dillards.com/stores/clearance). We bought a lot of quality clothes at 10% or less on the dollar. https://www.dillards.com/stores/irving-mall-irving-texas/0506 • Cheddar's Restaurant is great everyday food. https://cheddars.com/ It is still my favorite after 40 years. • Smokey Joes BBQ has the best brisket ever... http://www.smokeyjoesbbqdallas.com/ • Ojeda's has the best simple Tex-Mex food http://www.ojedasrestaurant.com/. A unique aspect is the enchiladas are made with corn tortillas giving them a taste similar to excellent tamales. • Use WAZE.com for all your directions. This app will route you around the frequent traffic jams in DFW.

Good serviced airport. You pay $2 fee to get in but you have free short term parking, where in other airports cars are congesting pickup lanes. Never had to wait a bus for more than 10 minutes

I highly recommend to people arriving or leaving DFW International Airport if they have a few hours to spare get on the Grapevine shuttle. Grapevine is a historic suburb near DFW airport that offers a great variety of little specialist shops in a historic environment, great restaurants and even a clock tower shootout. Very enjoyable and fun.

Drive quickly and safe, be aware of your surroundings (lots of trucks). Use a navigation system, a must. Lockhart Smokehouse and Meso Maya were excellent food choices. The Best Western Plus in Duncanville was a nice stay as well. As usual, Alamo was the correct decision to rent my vehicle.
