Monte do Castro is another major attraction in Vigo. It is a huge hill which overlooks the entire city and harbour, offering spectacular panoramic views over the city.

Samil Beach is a good beach to visit for families, especially in the summer months when the sea is warm enough to swim in.

For a more relaxed way to experience the city, walking along the Port of Vigo is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening, naturally stopping at several bars on the way for a few drinks and something to eat.

Best road trips from Vigo city

Several Portuguese cities can be reached from Vigo, making for a fun road trip, and to tick off two countries in less than a day. Braga (an hour), Porto (an hour and a half) and Lisbon (four and a half hours) are all doable in a day from Vigo.

Plenty of other Spanish destinations can also be reached in a day from Vigo: A Coruña is around an hour and a half away, while the central Spanish city of Valladolid is around four hours away.
