Car rental Tenerife

One of the canary Islands

Tenerife is the largest and most populous island of the seven Canary Islands. It attracts around five million tourists every year, the most of the Canary Islands. With a rich cultural heritage and amazing nature, the island indeed has a lot to offer. If you plan to rent a car in Tenerife, compare the prices of car rental in Tenerife from different suppliers at holidaycars.com and choose the most suitable one.

Easily travel to the Sandy beaches of Tenerife with car rental

In the south and southwest there are the most famous beaches of Las Americas and Los Cristianos. The rest of the island has rocky shores with steep cliffs. The highest cliffs can be found in the fishing village Puerto de Santiago in the west. Car rental in Tenerife is the best way to tour around the island, for it offers great flexibility to travel at your own pace.

Pico del Teide

One of the most characteristic attractions of Tenerife is the caldera, a large crater formed by volcanic explosion or by collapse of a volcanic cone. The Las Cañadas caldera is located on 2000 meters altitude and has a diameter of 14 kilometers. Volcano El Teide, with a summit of 3718 meters, is the highest mountain in Spain. The volcano and its surroundings comprise the Teide National park, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. Why not take a scenic drive in your rental car in Tenerife and enjoy the magnificent views?

The extrodinary shaped rock Formations of Los Roques

The bizarre looking rock formations of Los Roques, Los Azulejos and Zapato de la Reina attract many tourists. Besides the El Teide the other high peaks are Las Cañadas Cerrillar, the Chiqueros, the Colmenas, the Pico Viejo and Guajara. The stunning canyon-like gorges walk from the center to the coast. A rental car on Tenerife can help you reach the rock formations with ease.

Tax free shopping at Santa Cruz

The capital of Tenerife Santa Cruz de Tenerife is situated on the east coast. It is a big city with an important port for cargo and cruise ships. Here you can shop tax free. On the west coast is Playa de San Juan, from this place you get a beautiful view over the Atlantic Ocean to the neighboring island of La Gomera. Car rental in Tenerife helps you to quickly and comfortably reach Playa San Juan.

Puerto de la Cruz

Car hire in Tenerife is convenient especially when visiting the varied surroundings. The hospitable local people will show you the passage from the Teide to the coast. Puerto de la Cruz is located on the north coast in the valley of La Orotava at the foot of the volcano Teide. With a beautiful boulevard with quaint shops and cozy restaurants, it is definitely worth visiting.

Pack your hiking gear in your rental car and take a breathtaking hike

If you like hiking, Tenerife is the place to be. Tenerife has hundreds of marked trails. In particular, the village Vilaflor offers excellent opportunities for hiking. Why not let your rental car take you to the best hiking places on the island?

Love it. Locals tend to drive very close to your bumper so leave lots of space. Main roads are ok, in the mountains they're more rough / unkempt. Macca was great, as was Los Gigantes.

The famous zoo is overpriced and pity, but Masca and Anaga are ones of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

Rent a car and see the whole Island instead of just the main tourist resorts down south. We based ourselves in Santa Cruz which was a beautiful, safe city. People very helpful and you can live like locals do. Xmas was celebrated with exceptionally well decorated streets. New Year's night was a city party. Well done Santa Cruz!!

Car hire and petrol is so cheap and its the easiest way of getting around. Try visiting Teide at night to see the stars - there is no contamination up there and the views are breathtaking. Cold at this time of year 2.5 degrees so wrap up warm...

I would higly recommend Masca, Teide mountain, Garachico and the Santa Cruz capital. Also I suggest to learn driving by map as GPS does not really work in Tenerife (it does not find half of the destinations by name/post code nor by street name.

Get a rental car if you want to do anything but lay on the beach. Try the paragliding, it's much easier than it looks and not that expensive. Pack a jacket if you plan to check out El Teide.

Suggest car hire as taxis can be expensive. Even if you are only going to make a few taxi trips during your stay it may be more cost effective to hire a car even if it's not used for the majority of your stay.

I spent 10 days traveling across Tenerifa. My best suggestions: Masca, Barranco de Infierno, mountains around Teide , Anaga mountains, Whales ( traveled from LosGigantos Port) , Jungle Park what is more quiet then Loro Park ( also interesting) , Garachico- "pools" .

Good warm and dry weather in the Southern part of island, unlike the Northern areas where winds and rains can be heavy and much more frequent. Very competitive prices in most areas and fields, e.g. food, restaurants etc. (except real estate ways too inflated for such remote place)
