About Car Hire at East Midlands International Airport

The East Midlands is one of the nine regions in England consisting of cities, namely Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, and Rutland. When you are not admiring the historical sites, you may find yourself exploring the charming market towns, the nightlife, or nature-based activities. There is plenty that the East Midlands has to offer for the inquisitive traveller. What better way to explore the scenery and sights than with a hire car?

East Midlands International Airport (EMA) is the only airport in the region that serves England and neighbouring European destinations. Originally built as an RAF base, it was converted into a regular airport in 1965. Today, it is one of the most significant hubs for airlines such as Ryanair, TUI Airways, BH Air, and Jet2. In 2015, the airport carried over 4.5 million passengers, which was a record high, making it the 11th-busiest airport serving the UK.

East Midlands International Airport hosts several car hire agencies. The airport consists of a single terminal. So, once you land here and complete the formalities, head to the main entrance of the terminal, where you will find the desks of the major car hire agencies. The top car hire agencies here include Avis, Europcar, Enterprise, Green Motion, and Alamo. You may select any kind of car, from a compact mini to an SUV, based on your needs. Keep in mind that many people in the city drive stick-shift vehicles. So, if you need a vehicle with an automatic transmission, consider getting in touch with your preferred agency and making a reservation for the car you want ahead of time.

Downtown Car Hire in the East Midlands

Trams, trains, and buses are the most common forms of public transport in the East Midlands. However, if you are visiting with your friends or on your honeymoon, then you do not want to rely on public transportation for many reasons. Nothing is simpler than entering and leaving the East Midlands with a hired car. Hiring a vehicle in the city centre as opposed to the airport may also be a lot more cost-effective. Due to the airport's lack of parking space, you could possibly find more options in the city. If you hire a mid-size or full-size SUV, you can be confident that you, your family, and all of your possessions will have ample space while on vacation. A tiny hatchback or a sedan can be sufficient if you are travelling alone or with only two other people. You should easily find a car that can accommodate all of your needs, whether you are travelling alone or with a friend.

If coming over to stay in the uk I have a two friends. One called Trevor who knows a lot about camping and putting tents up. the other one called Dave is also very good at handy hints on camping and where to put your tent up to save money. They also can take you to the car boots if you want a bargin on a Sunday as they know where they all are, Even give you a guided tour of the local cattle market where all the junk is on a Saturday morning. But the main thing is if your are hireing a biycyle, this is Trevors department, he knows all about them. Tyres, Pedals, Saddles, Inner tubes. you name it Trev knows it, And he has all the tools, Between him and Dave you cannot go far wrong. Safe peddling and camping from the experts.

Best travel trip I can give is always give your self enough time. Check in online this will avoid queues at check in desk. Keep your passport and boarding card readily available to show when required. This will speed up check in process and avoid people fumbling to find their documents holding up the queue. Book your hire car on line before you travel again this speeds up your waiting around time. Plan your journey in advance and know where you want to go to avoid delays.traavel as light as you can again this will save you time.

Get to know the excellent reasonably priced bus services to Nottingham and Derby. Avoid East Midlands Parkway railway station like the plague unless one knows its foibles. This station (EMD) does not have the connecting bus service it should have, better to use the Nottingham non-express bus to Long Eaton - cheap and frequent, each 20 minutes. Flybe service for disabled/elderly is excellent but rather let down at E.Midlands by the long waiting times and then sudden charge for the plane at short notice, leaving little time to visit the loo etc. If dropping off a hire car at the Hire Car Village, no need to return to the terminal as the Nottm/Derby buses pass the car rental place. The airport has quite good National Express coach links with other airports such as Heathrow or Gatwick, which can be used to avoid one way hire car charges if leaving from and returning to different UK airports.

I travel in and out of the UK on a regular basis. The security here is by far the worst experience of any other airport I use and that includes the major London airports. It appears the passenger, the customer, is an irritation which reluctantly has to be dealt with. There is no customer focus to make the use of the airport pleasurable.
