Once with the shuttle bus at Hoofddorp, you find out that it is far more easy to find you road than if you take a car at the AirPort . It minimises the risks in particular after a long distance flight with jet lag.

Schiphol has grown but not lost any of the Dutch Hospitality and International flavour of Amsterdam! Efficiency and warmth awaits your arrival and It is so cosy one could just have a Holiday there without stepping out onto the Trains below to see Central Amsterdam. Newest but hidden is the New Indonesian Togo "restaurant" near Gate 1 whose servings are a culinary delight. Don't Miss it

Despite this airport is getting busier by the year, it's well managed and offer lots of facilities and services also to families with children. Ensure you arrive as early as possible and have an enjoyable stay like you would by going to any other large shopping mall with great dining and drinking locations. This will guarantee a much more relaxed start of your family holidays or return flight back home ;-)

Easy to access. Public transport available for every look and corner of the country with well connected bus and trains. Free and fast one hour wifi available. Directions to all the necessary services are clearly indicated. Childcare facilities are available at all most all the rest rooms. Clean airport and most of the people speak english and will help you without any reservations. Really like the directions to official taxi. I also liked the "IAMSTERDAM" in front of the building. Only bad thing is the unofficial taxi drivers pampering tourists as soon as you come out of the plaza. During peak hours, Travel by public transport is much faster than traveling by taxi

prepare your stay, and the Dappert market or Albert Kuip market is almost a must. We liked the mills of Kinderdijk and think that there are many interesting and almost secret, worthwhile, destinations. E.g did you ever knew that there is the Pyramid of Austerlitz in Holland? Or the huge Obelisk of Baarn/soestdijk. Or the Spinoza Museum, etc etc. all historic icons and places we previously visited to enjoy and to learn something.

Split has fab road system - loads of new EU funded roads and bridges. No problems driving here, advise to get sat nav updated as so many new roads - need whole of Europe one. Ours had a few glitches being a couple of years old. The Motorways are all toll roads and you need small notes or change. In busy towns watch out for all the mopeds - it is like being in Rome! Watch out for crossings - there does not seem to be any hard and fast rules for stopping so people just walk into oncoming traffic from behind slow moving cars. Petrol is cheap and paid for after filling up. We did have problems paying with debit cards so used the credit card.

Use P+R in Amsterdam - it's a cheap and good solution. We has parked in Olympic Stadium P+R and then by tram #16 you can travel to Museum square, Dam and Railway station. Utrecht street parking and park in the center are expensive - check where to park. Oil in small towns may be cheaper than in cities or on high ways: like 1.45 vs 1.6 per liter
