Decent regional airport with train/bus links to Bari. Plenty of car hire options are available too if you want. Facilities at the airport are satisfactory but they could do with more staff at the immigration desks as there were logn queues.

Bari Airport is a modern one. The air condition is provided, so the air is cool and this is important in the hot Italian climate. The best place to wait for the time the Check-in begins is the second floor. There a lot of calm sitting places/ The procedure of Check-in is organised well, the turn is moving fast. A passenger have to take into account that cafes and restaurants are expensive and the services are rather slow. I have found only two toilets and one cafe automate with strange sorts of Italian coffees. This is the situation in the open area of the airport. But in the closed arrivals/departures area there is a shop with local South Italian specialities - food and drinks, The prices are much higher than ir Bari city supermarkets, but the choice and the quality of goods is rather good. If you had not time to bye some presents in the city it is worth to do in this shop in the Airport.

Go straight out to the car hire parking area to do the paperwork and pick up. It’s about 300 mtr walk near the Hertz parking area. Quite when I was there but could be very hot waiting outside if it’s very busy.

The old Bari is really great and the people very positive. I recommend to visit even smaller cities in the neighbourhood just to have a walk, a dinner etc. (for example Polignano A Mare, Conversano and others).
