About Car Hire at Milan Malpensa Airport

One of Italy's most dynamic cities, Milan attracts models, artists, photographers, and designers from all over the globe. But wait, there's more. It is also one of the most important culinary hubs in the world. Despite its modest size, the cosmopolitan city is full of creativity, elegance, and a particular charm that brings it to life. Milan offers something for everyone, from upscale retail areas to historical sites and museums. And the best way to see it all is to hire a vehicle.

Milan's principal gateway is Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP), Italy's largest international airport, which also serves the adjacent cities of Piedmont, Liguria, and Lombardy. It is around 49 kilometres from central Milan. It carried over 28 million passengers in 2019, making it the country's second busiest airport and the 20th busiest airport in Europe. This airport is home to major airlines such as Air Canada, Air China, Emirates, KLM, and Singapore Airlines. Singapore, Amsterdam, Dubai, New York, Beijing, and Toronto are among the most frequently traveled international routes from Milan.

If you need to hire a vehicle during your time in Italy, you may find a wide variety of options at Milan's Malpensa Airport. To hire a vehicle, go to the Arrivals Hall in Terminal 1, where you must follow the 'Car Hire' signs to the authorised location. The major international car hire agencies, including Sixt, Sicily By Car, Goldcar, Hertz, Europcar, and Budget, have counters here. You may lease a car on the spot depending on the sort of vehicle you want. They come in a variety of sizes, from compacts to sedans and SUVs. However, we recommend reserving the vehicle of your choice in advance to avoid any disappointment. While automated automobiles are becoming more popular in Italy, most cars are still only available in stick-shift mode. Therefore, if you need an automatic, it is preferable to pre-book your vehicle ahead of time.

Downtown Car Hire in Milan

Buses, trams, metros, trains, and taxis are all part of Milan's efficient public transit system. However, if you want to spend your holiday stress-free with your loved ones or explore unusual places, public transportation may not be suitable. If you fly straight into the city from the airport, you may hire a vehicle from anywhere in the city. It will not only save you money, but it will also give you a wider range of automobiles to pick from. Choose a car that fits your demands at a reasonable price. SUVs may be necessary for larger parties, but if there are just two individuals, a compact sedan may suffice.

Driving in Milan

Italians adore their automobiles and motorcycles, and their enthusiasm for driving is evident on the roads. Honking and flashing lights are common in the country. Here are a few driving tips to keep in mind before embarking on a road trip:

Car Hire Agencies in Milan

Whether you're in Milan for business or for a romantic getaway, the agencies have you covered. Thanks to Milan's prosperity, luxury brands like Mercedes, Volkswagen, BMW, Ferrari, and Jaguar may be seen on Milan's roadways very often.

Top Road Trips from Milan

From high fashion to rich history, Milan has it all. When you've had your fill of downtown Milan and want to go off the main road, here are a few suggestions:

Consider a cross-country excursion to the Alps. Yes, you may take your automobile on a road trip to Lake Como, Switzerland, which is one of the country's most beautiful lakeside locations. Some of Hollywood's biggest stars live there, and it also has a lot of historical sites, like the Basilica of Sant'Abbondio, which was built in the 11th century, the Brunate funicular (from which you can get a great view of the neighbourhood), and the Roman Gate. Furthermore, there are several beautiful green gardens where you can relax. If you want to go shopping, this area is well-known for its silk apparel. To reach here, use Milan's SS 36 del Lago di Como e dello Spluga. The trip will take around 2 hours.

Are you travelling with a loved one? When it comes to romance, nothing beats Venice. Make great memories by taking a romantic gondola ride through the alleys. St. Mark's Basilica and the Bridge of Sighs are both must-sees in Venice. Venice is three hours from Milan and may be reached via the A4.

Verona is one of Italy's most popular tourist destinations due to its attractive combination of ancient Roman ruins, medieval architecture, and the tragic (albeit fictitious) love story of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In the middle of the old neighbourhood is one of the best-preserved Roman arenas in all of Italy. Every summer, a well-known opera festival is held there. A few blocks away, the riverfront castle has been beautifully turned into an art museum with beautiful views of the fortified bridge below. At least four of the city's churches are known all over the world as great examples of Italian architecture and design. Even though there are several Roman gates and underground excavations from the same time period to examine in Verona, few sites draw as many visitors as Juliet's home and balcony.

We spent a day at the Sforza Castle and found it rich and enjoyable. We visited the Fondazione Prada and the Observatory Prada Foundation. Both were interesting, more for the architecture itself rather than the post-modern art. We had fun walking along the canals, drinking up the local atmosphere. Plus we had some very good food at several restaurants. One in particular had some great seafood - an osteria called "Carbonaia Mare".
