Zadar is a city on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast. When you visit Zadar you should really look into its history. The old ruins are amazing. The city is known for the Roman and Venetian ruins of its peninsular Old Town. There are several Venetian gates in the city walls. Surrounding the Roman-era Forum is 11th-century St. Mary’s Convent, with religious art dating to the 8th century. There’s also the grand, 12th-century St. Anastasia’s Cathedral and the round, 9th-century pre-Romanesque Church of St. Donatus.

Climate in Zadar

Zadar has a borderline humid subtropical and Mediterranean climate. It can’t be classified as one or the other because only one summer month has less than 40 millimetres of rainfall, preventing it from being classified as solely humid subtropical or Mediterranean. Zadar has mild, wet winters and very warm, humid summers.

Zadar airport is rather small so all rental offices are close to the airport. What makes they are easy to access. So it’s easy to bring back the car at the end of your stay. Luggage service is also quick. Shops are also availble at the airport: good food and available in HRK and EUR, which is handy when leaving Croatia. Plitvice (buy your ticket in advance) and Zadar are really worth it. Krka is a quite crowdy but OK, it was nice too. Take your time to explore Croatia and its natural parks by car and stop now and then to enjoy the beautiful small villages.

You gotta see kornati. Preko and some other islands are also beautiful. There are several fine restaurants like šime for example. The old city in zadar has also a lot to offer. You can also drive down the coast to look for some great beaches. There are beaches for everyone's taste.

Zadar is an easy airport to get in and out of. It is never overcrowded and the staff are pretty helpful. The Zadar ferry port is not far away and access to other islands, Krka waterfalls, plitvice lakes, Subemik, trogir, Primosten and so many other places are all in easy driving distance. Zadar city has a lot to offer from the ancient Roman ruins, the historical churches and their architecture. Also the greeting of the Sun and Sea Organ are worth a visit. Provided the airfare is reasonable this is a great choice of airport. Car hire is easy and you can get good deals if you shop around.
