The airport is centered on a large indoor plaza with shops, restaurants, cafes, information centers and car rental facilities. It's great because you have very easy access to trains serving the airport.

The best way to get to know a country is to dig in the culture of the country.. Typical Dutch things that you have to do is eating: bitterballen/kroketten, haring, dropjes, stroopwafels, hagelslag, frikandel speciaal, pannekoeken, poffertjes and in the winter a Dutch stampot! The must see city of course is Amsterdam, enough to see and do over there! Go the Dutch way and rent a bicycle! Another must do is the Efteling! An amazing theme park for young and old! And when you don’t have to much time, but still want to see a lot of Holland, go to Madurodam! Holland in miniature!

Prepare before hand, make sure you have the car that fits for you. If you travel in Europe and you are coming from the USA, don't get too big of a car. I am finding that the small streets in the Netherlands and the small spaces in parking garages are increasingly difficult for me to navigate even though I grew up in the NL>

Pre-book car hire and take your own additional insurance. Consider the use of personal wifi/internet, this allows you to use your phone and sat nav. Research your destination and car parking due to parking costs. Visit the Red Light Area of Amsterdam both during the day and night, take in the atmosphere Visit the WWI sites, remember those who cave so much. Take a boat trip down the many canals and see the history of Amsterdam

Schiphol has grown but not lost any of the Dutch Hospitality and International flavour of Amsterdam! Efficiency and warmth awaits your arrival and It is so cosy one could just have a Holiday there without stepping out onto the Trains below to see Central Amsterdam. Newest but hidden is the New Indonesian Togo "restaurant" near Gate 1 whose servings are a culinary delight. Don't Miss it

Despite this airport is getting busier by the year, it's well managed and offer lots of facilities and services also to families with children. Ensure you arrive as early as possible and have an enjoyable stay like you would by going to any other large shopping mall with great dining and drinking locations. This will guarantee a much more relaxed start of your family holidays or return flight back home ;-)

Easy to access. Public transport available for every look and corner of the country with well connected bus and trains. Free and fast one hour wifi available. Directions to all the necessary services are clearly indicated. Childcare facilities are available at all most all the rest rooms. Clean airport and most of the people speak english and will help you without any reservations. Really like the directions to official taxi. I also liked the "IAMSTERDAM" in front of the building. Only bad thing is the unofficial taxi drivers pampering tourists as soon as you come out of the plaza. During peak hours, Travel by public transport is much faster than traveling by taxi

prepare your stay, and the Dappert market or Albert Kuip market is almost a must. We liked the mills of Kinderdijk and think that there are many interesting and almost secret, worthwhile, destinations. E.g did you ever knew that there is the Pyramid of Austerlitz in Holland? Or the huge Obelisk of Baarn/soestdijk. Or the Spinoza Museum, etc etc. all historic icons and places we previously visited to enjoy and to learn something.
