Like all regional airports it is small and cramped. The people are helpful, but the gated areas are overcrowded. There is often mass confusion because no one can hear or understand the announcements. Gate changes and boarding flight changes are not immediately updated on the screens. Food and water are cheap and there is plenty of it. Use google maps or GPS to find your way there as the road signs are few and far between. Don't expect American line etiquette; if you leave a gap someone will step in front of you.

Try all the different beaches, they're all very different and exciting to see; we tried 5 or 6 different beaches and all have different facilities, terrain and power of the sea. The Phi Phi islands are beautiful and a really nice place to visit for an entire day. Phuket Old Town has a nice feel to it, the night market on Saturday evenings is a good way to spend a few hours, and there's plenty of food to try. Driving in Phuket is an experience, well actually I think its Thailand in general. Be very wary if you're not a local, cars and bikes like to drive fast everywhere, and squeeze past. It works though! We visited during the rainy season, and rain was forecast for every day. But it didn't, and we only saw rain a couple of times. Generally the skies were slightly cloudy, but we got a few days of clear blue skies - beautiful! Our family also visited the big buddha statue and the monkeys which are not too far from Phuket town itself.

To get a your destination, I recommend you a check your route in Google maps and get GPS coordinate. The street address will not help you as it is not registered anywhere and Thai people don't know about street addresses
