Careful, some Zoom agents lack common sense. Also, Zoom rental car shuttles do not pick-up or drop off at individual airlines. You must take the airport train to the Zoom pick-up area for arrivals and departures.

There is a bit inconvenience in finding direction in Toronto airport. They need to have the electronic map in order for people to know where they are at. The airport is too big but there is no support services, or in building transportation. There are lot of foreigners from around the world and it is so difficult for them to walk arround with unclarified directions while they carry many luggages.

Definitely visit a Blue Jays game, an very nice afternoon or evening spend also with your family. Before or after the area of Kensington will give you that idea of creativity new business and good food. For the real experience of italian food in the business district near the center of town you can eat at Terroni. The combination of great food and hospitality with a DJ during lunch, great. Also near the center is Union Station New York City eat your heart out. This station is absolutely worth a visit. (as is the use of the train to avoid the bad traffic sometimes in Toronto. Finish your visit with Beer and Sausage restaurant "Wvrst" for a beer, cider with a hot dog you never eaten before. We love Toronto!

Routes was efficient, helpful and easy to deal with. The vehicle was new (and they even upgraded me, as I was so 'friendly' towards them) and claim clean. The pick up from Viscount was simple, and we were at the rental location in just 10 minutes. Advice: make sure you jump out and into their office first, because you could be waiting a while if there's a big group of people in the shuttle with you. They're a little slow at processing the rental, so you might have a bit of a wait if you were, let's say, the 10th in line. Overall though, excellent value, nice guys, and pleasure to rent from.

Plan the trip in advance. Traveling with your best friends /or your family. Visit and live in a place for at least two days to get to know people. Have a local guide. Always bring a backpack with enough water and snacks. Rent a car and Drive if possible so you can easily bring your dog. Do some research about the place you will visit and identify the local areas you love to walk around.

Allow plenty of time for customs and be aware of what items you bring that may be subjected to additional scrutiny. You don't want to end up in the slow lane for a piece of fruit. Coming from the U.S. take the train from Terminal 1 or 3 to Viscount Station where all of the off site car companies pick up. It is a bit of a trek with heavy luggage, however free dollies are available at luggage pick up. Always come prepared with the appropriate insurance documents and phone numbers for car rentals. You will NOT be given a car unless you pay for their insurance or provide your own adequate documentation. Most of the car rental complaints I have read come from customers that did not come prepared with all of the documentation. If a US citizen this is simply Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver [often available from credit card company that you use to rent the car] and a non resident liability insurance card from your current insurance carrier. Toronto Airport is sometimes crazy busy and the internet seems to shut down frequently bringing things to a halt. If you can check in before arrival, this may save you wait time at a down kiosk or attendant. Do not use you cell phone while in customs. We know you want to, but don't do it. You will get pulled from the line. Toronto Airport used to have horrible signage but either we have become more aware or they have added wayfinding signage.

I would recommend people hire a car in Canada and explore in our experience this great and vast country. Drive off the highways and see hidden sights. Go to Niagara Falls and take it all in from day to night. Spend time at the lakes and explore the forests. Toronto is a treat clean tidy with friendly people So much to see and do. Last meet the people I found Canadians to be proud friendly helpful and interesting wherever we went wether a supermarket or bar, thank you Canada for a wonderful experience.

Plan ahead to call the rental company for pickup prior getting to Alt Hotel Viscount stop. The train will take 5 mins to arrive to Alt Hotel from Terminal 1 and it will take 20 mins for them to come and pick you up. If you have a voucher, have the reference number ready on paper or cell phone for proof. Google Map is a must to travel. Bring your USB charger, you can sync your Android / iPhone to car display for Maps and Music (data is extra!!! =))))

Do read the terms and conditions of the rental agreement before booking, it’s very black and white. As well as the hours of operations so you don’t have to worry about not being able to pickup or drop off after hours. Pickup and drop off was very easy to access and very quick and efficient. Quick ride on the free airport train to the parking lot where the routes shuttle driver was waiting. Do call the routes front desk after you collect your luggage so that you won’t have to wait around for the shuttle.

Remember when booking with Routes, it's an off-site rental company. This simply means that you will have to call them when you arrive and they will pick you up and shuttle you to where your rental car is located. This caught me a bit off guard but it was easy to get to the pick up location and the shuttle was there very quickly. The Toronto airport is very large but the signs are placed well and we met nothing but friendly people willing to direct us to the right areas.

Plan your trip schedule to rent a car for day brackets, as companies rent it on 24 hour basis. Surf internet for better deals, could save you a lot than the local car rental dealers. Pick up and drop off from airport is much cheaper. Be very careful to reach the exact spot to airport locations or you might end of circling around a couple of times. Make sure your driver licence is valid. Check insurance terms carefully as some only cover limited damages. Call the car company (budget car in my case) as they may have their own insurance plan. Inspect the car well at the pick up time. Some new car have features unknown to you, ask for guidance from the staff.

Off car rental locations are cheaper at times (with some hassles of course) for medium to longer durations.. YYZ is well connected with UP Express and probably bus service as well to the city center. US flight areas (specially Delta and American side) have very limited options food in the area specially when one is looking for vegetarian options.

Choose AWD vehicle in wintry weather. Handling is superior in snow and ice conditions. 4WD is much safer prided you leave enough space for reaction time. Don't even touch your mobile phone while driving in Ontario. The penalty for distracted driving is severe! Plan & familiarise yourself with your route before embarking. In winter, lift wipers away from windshield when you're parked. Ask for a snowbrush brush & ice scraper. Slow down! You're on holiday!

Toronto Airport food is not good, very poor food options and somehow chaotic. Also the waiting places are packed, not so many places to seat. In the other hand, the arrival is easy going, no problems at all. About the card rental, is very easy to pick up ant to drop off. In winter, the airport is very pleasant. I fully recommend a stop over Toronto.

Toronto was great, however I spent a lot of time in nearby Guelph. Guelph is a charming town with amazing craft beer on offer. Would recommend stopping into Royal City Brewing Co if you're a lover of fine craft beer. There's a public skating rink in Guelph which was beautifully light in a festive style during our stay. The market nearby offers a great range of fresh produce and seasonal treats. The Ontario Science Center in Toronto is well worth a visit if you enjoy science, especially if you have kids. The classic CN Tower is a sight to behold and worthwhile checking out.
