Just head for the blue busses after grabbing your luggage from the claim area. Be sure to check the signs to see which bus to take to your desired car rental company desk.

Make sure you allow enough time for security. Make sure you know what all the cost for your rental are and allow for them. By all means, make sure you rent the toll transponder as it takes forever if you have to use non-toll routes.

When thinking about Boston plan ahead. There are so many historical venues to see you want to do as much as possible. Mike's Pastries is a great place to start. A must is Paul Reveres House and of course the Old North Church. If you are into the Revolutionary scene continue on with the Boston Harbor and grab a bite to eat at any one of the amazing pubs along the way. Take a trip to Salem and learn about our dark past with the Salem Witch Trials Museum. Follow the red line throughout Salem on a walking tour of the sites from the graveyard to the memorial to those hung- not burned. Take in the fantastic art museum. Send your day with a basket of fish and chips or look for a hand made wand. Boston and the surrounding areas is a new favorite place for us to return to again and again!

1. Know beforehand that you'll have to rent the EZ-pass for the tolls around Boston (for $10 a day). 2. Know that you'll need to take one of the busses to the rental car building (there aren't separate shuttles per car company). 3. Know that all rental car companies are in the same building. 4. Be ready for weird and confusing directions around the Boston area. 5. Go check out the historical sites around Boston (public transportation can get you to many of them). 6. Always show up to Boston-Logan airport early - they often have long security lines.

Boston is a very organized airport. People are available to answer any questions which is helpful. The airport was very clean and the restrooms were kept tidy. My only complaint would be to have more signs leading to where the rental car shuttle is. Overall I enjoy flying into Boston when traveling anywhere in the northeast.

Be aware that an electronic toll is required to leave the vicinity of the airport. EZPass (or iPass) required. Public transport to rental counter may require a bit of a wait. Public transport is free. Be sure to get on a bus with the right number for the rental center. Do carefully inspect the vehicle before leaving premises, especially if it is dark.

We spent our time in Cape Cod, which is a little over an hour away from the airport. We went mid-October, so it was fairly quiet. We spent time in charming little Sandwich, where there are shops, bakeries, and a glass museum worth checking out. Provincetown is about an hour away from where we stayed in Sandwich, but it was worth the drive. There is a Pilgrim Monument you can climb, which gives you a wonderful view of the area, and there are whale watching tours and tons of restaurants and shops in this area as well. We also checked out the Wellfleet Oysterfest, which I recommend if you are in the area when that's happening. The beaches are plentiful as well as tons of hiking opportunities.

Long walk through terminal improved with motorized pedestrian walkways. Enjoyed Dunkin’ Donuts at the baggage claim. Shuttle to rental cars was marked pretty well. If you are TSA precheck get there by 7pm. After 7pm the pre check closes. The eateries and shopping are located after security check. The shuttle bus to the remote car rental center can be a time killer when things are busy, allow 30+ minutes. All the car rental companies are lined up side-by-side in the same facility. This means they are all created equal in location/convenience aspect. Passenger waiting areas by gates had a good amount of various seating styles. USB and/or 120VAC power is available at every seat. TSA processing was smooth, to the extent it can be, that is. Walk to gates at far end of terminal can take an extra minute.

Driving in Boston just now is a nightmare. There so much construction. The roads and bridges are being repaired and the traffic is slow. ANd google maps are not up to date. It would be really helpful if Budget could help with some up to date maps. I forgot to request a map, so don't know if Budget offers any. It would be good if it did.I ended up parking my car at the Navy Yard parking lot belonging to the National Park Service ($13. for 12 hours) and took an Uber for intown trips.

We drove from Boston to Quoddy Head (furthest point east in the continental US) with stops in many charming towns B&Bs, galleries, and restaurants along the way. Then we “leaf-peeped” all the way across New Hampshire to the highest point in Vermont, ziplined down, and drove through Smuggler’s pass. We drove most of the scenic byways and had a great time! Plan your routes ahead. Be sure to have GPS, allow plenty of time for spontaneity, get to know locals, and give Air B&B a try! Pack your suitcase, then take half out! You don’t need much to have a fabulous road-trip!!! Happy travels!

Allow plenty of time to get to the airport and check in. You never know how much traffic there will be and how long the security checkpoint lines may be. Be patient. Sometimes things happen that are not preventable. Be kind. You are not the only one having a bad day (when it happens) Be sure to review your itinerary, contract, etc. before your trip and understand the procedures, etc. Once you have checked in to the airport, there are lots of choices of places to get a bite to eat or a coffee. There are directories which post these locations throughout the airport If you're a frequent flyer, it will save you time to sign up to be a "known passenger". You will automatically go through the TSA Pre check line in most cases

Boston is a beautiful city and a great place to visit in the fall. If you enjoy seafood (especially clams, oysters and lobster), good beer, and history you will enjoy your visit. There is so much to see while you are here: boats on the Charles River, the Freedom Trail and Paul Revere's ride, The USS Constitution ship, Mike's Bakery (the best cannoli you will ever have) and so much more. If you're renting a car, take a ride up to the North Shore and visit the coastal, cozy towns of Marblehead and Essex, or take a tour of the Witch House in Salem. If it is summer time, drive down to Cape Cod for gorgeous beaches or take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket. There is delicious clam chowder everywhere and the summer lobster rolls will change your life. Overall, the list of things to see and do in Boston is virtually endless. I have visited this city dozens of times in my life and still every trip feels fresh and new.

Try to avoid checking luggage. It will get you through the airport faster upon your arrival. You will be the first from your flight to the rental car counter. This will allow you to have a larger selection of cars from which to choose. Try to bring your own easy pass. This will save you money. Familiarize yourself with the vehicle prior to driving away from the rental company. You will need to know where the release for the trunk and gas is located. The agents can help with this.

I live in LA, so Boston traffic almost makes me feel at home. We were in no hurry, so when I95 traffic slowed to a crawl, we twice exited and explored some of the small towns. Turned out to be the best part of our trip. Of particular note was the borough of Stonington, CT. It was close to our destination of Mystic. Delightful. Felt like a time traveler visiting the 1940's.

In winter, try to fly nonstop! If you cant, give yourself plenty of time for layovers at airports, especially JFK and O'Hare, and especially in winter, when weather can cause massive delays. If you do need to make connections in winter, try southern airports like Atlanta or Dallas, where local weather is less of a factor. However, even there the ripple effects of weather events in the north and east can create delays. Just in case, I always bring work or a book with me to do if I'm stuck in an airport. If missing a connection stresses you out, find a nice restaurant, think positive thoughts, and try to relax! You'll get there eventually.
