We waited in line for almost 2 hours and then get a car that had a terribly strong smoke smell. Not a very good experience.

Price, but i guess you get what you pay for.
One of the criteria I look at when renting a car is that the the car can be picked up and returned at the airport. That was not the case. I selected a car from Thrifty since the information on the HolidayCars site originnaly said the car rental pick up was at the airport. That was not the case. It was offsite at a Thrifty desk inside a Holiday Inn. Had to call for a van and wait 25 min. It appearts this has now been corrected on the HolidayCars site. Car from Thrifty was not up to standards. Big stain on the rear seat. The rubber portion of the driver side floor carpet came loose and would move. Your dirving foot would then be resting in the sticky adheasive. Inside of widnshield had a "haze" on it, like it hadn't been thouroghly cleaned in a while.

The agent at Thrifty worked with us to provide exactly the kind of vehicle we wanted. The car was new, clean and drove wonderfully. Upon return of the vehicle, we were checked in immediately, and the agent helped me to unload the luggage. In addition, he showed us where to get a luggage cart (free) and again assisted with the luggage. I would definitely use both Holiday Cars.com and Thrifty upon our return to Phoenix.
