Adelaide airport is always spotlessly clean, surprisingly quiet and a modern and well facilitated terminal, both inside and out. I've accessed it by rental car, private car and public transport, all with ease. The check in area is well signposted and spacious. A good range of eateries and shops caters to last minute requirements or unexpected delays, both of which I have experienced. The courtyard apron outside allows for waiting in fresh air but, that said, the terminal itself is spacious, well lit with natural light from huge viewing windows and somehow never seems too crowded or rowdy. I think it has been well designed. In addition, the hotel, car park, access to rental vehicles, and a petrol station nearby, make the peripheral needs very simple to access as well.

Best thing I can think of is to make sure you have your destination accurately mapped out to where you’re going to so you don’t get lost in the country side.

It is always good to book rental car in advance as it eold save time at the airport to organise the car. Also it would be ideal if all the rental car companies offer free maps of the city and surburb. Go down to some beaches and you might see dolphin and stingray along the shore ic you are lucky!!!

Get a real road map. Get the souvenirs early. The lizards are friendly. Talk to people at the airports. Go to the IGA and buy food to cook. Pubs are mostly for TAB gamblers. Beer costs way too much.

Small airport but very well loated not too far from the city. All big rental companies are situated there, and lots have shuttles. Adelaide is 10 min right away, and you can start enjoying your holiday from the city, moving down to gleleng, or hangley beach, where food is delicious, and sun makes the day even brighter. going down the cost you can have a rest at hanley cove, with a nice walk and beautiful seaview. Do not forget Cleland conservation park to have a fully Aussie adventure, with kangaroos and koalas ready to be cuddles for just 25$ at the entrance. Handorff will welcome you with a tipycal german atmosphere! And the wine region.. well i dont think it needs word, but more of a taste! Enjoy Adelaide for a weekend or even more, trying local food & wines!

Upon arrival dont turn down the first right turning when you see the rental returns sign (like I did), its actually another slip road directly after. I was glad i took photos of the minor damage on the vehicle on pickup as although it didnt affect my vehicle, it set my mind at ease knowing i had proof i didnt cause it. There are petrol stations on both Marion rd and in West Beach to fill up prior to return to save any fees. Also i gave my car a wash and a tidy so returned it in a great state to avoid any extra cleaning fees. I could have saved a bit of time on drop off if i had seen the staff in the car park earlier with ipads as i waited a few minutes in the office until someone from outside saw me and took me back to my car. To save more money when you pick your rental up, go through the cars settings and switch it to 'Economy', i had mine preset on full power and as a result used more fuel. Nice car though, clean and affordable.

Be early to airport. Be carm when using report in technology. Keep passport out of holders as it won't all fit into ereport-in. Walk around inside the airport as there is lots of sitting on the plane.

ADL airport travel tips: 1) Finding the Europcar pickup - exit the terminal, and go on a diagonal to the left corner of the car park building, cross at the pedestrian lights, then turn right, to aim for the diagonally opposite corner of the car park building. 2) Returning the car - Rental returns are not well signed, but take the right lane out of the roundabout, do NOT use the slip lane to the car park, instead take the small next right avenue into Rental Returns. 3) Driving in Adelaide - Peak traffic only lasts about 20 minutes, so don't panic if you get stuck in it! 4) Fixed and mobile speed cameras are not made obvious. 5) Street parking is freely available within easy walking distance of almost everywhere except the CBD. 6) Highlights - Take a morning walk from Glenelg Jetty to Brighton Jetty, Look over the city from the Mt Lofty Lookout or dine at the Restaurant there (also the Windy Point Lookout/restaurant), Take a sunset stroll on the Hallet Cove boardwalk.
