The airport is not massive so the rental desks are easy to find and on the same level as arrivals. You need to go down in the lift to the ground floor if you have a baggage trolley otherwise you can use the travelator. The Budget rental cars are located just a couple of minutes walk from the terminal. The signage is good.

WiFi access is pretty limited. The people were very friendly there. I don't recommend TigerAir to ANYONE. They literally dropped us off 100 meters from the terminal in the freezing rain.

South bank in brisbane was stunning especially at night. SeaWorld was a great day and with some awesome rides and great shows. Eat street is a must during your trip! Gold coast beach is great for kids, lots of entertainment for them as well as adults. The wheel was fun! Lots of places to swim to cool off in the heat so take an extra pair of swimmers with!

For renting a car : to have all your documents in place before approaching the service counter. Take notice of the nearest service station for refuelling the car on return. Google airport and know where the car rental desk is or where the shuttle bus arrives. Put the rental car number in your phone prior to departure for quick access. Know where you are heading from the facility and the route prior to turning up at rental car facility. Approach all staff with a smile and be courteous - they are working under pressure.

In the US we have largely done away with one way fees. So when renting through the car rental apps for overseas rentals beware of the hidden fees. I did get notified by the app manager that there may be one way fees but indicated they would be around $100 Au.

We had a long haul flight, neck pillows are a must. If hiring a car make sure it has sat nav. Buy a country of origin SIM card from a super market on arrival, saves on roaming data costs etc. Load money onto a travel card, use these for fuel etc. If on long haul with stops and changes print out flight details, gates, terminals etc to save stress. Photograph debit/credit cards, passport, driving licence just in case you lose them.

Would definitely recommend checking out Southbank where there is a beautiful artificial beach with lifeguards and other family activities. There are also a lot of restaurants to choose from too. If you do plan to visit Brisbane CBD I would recommend leaving the car at your accommodation as the CBD is a bit of a maze of one way streets, limited on street parking and incredibly expensive private car parks. Save yourself the hassle and try out some public transport.

Great city, much to see and do. But parking fees in the city were a big shock. It's a bit less than an hour to the Gold Coast a little bit longer to the Sunshine Coast. But the roads are very good. Makes sightseeing a pleasure.
