I liked traveling through Daytona Beach airport, as it is smaller than Orlando and easier to navigate. That being said, there were still options for food and drinks after going through security, which was nice. I would definitely recommend renting a car as this made it very easy to get around town, and to area attractions. The staff at Dollar rental were really friendly, and made the whole process really simple, as well as affordable. I took a day trip down to Kennedy Space Center, and was lucky enough to see a rocket launch! That was an amazing experience which I would recommend to anyone. The beach in Daytona was great, and the moon rising over the Atlantic is a sight to see.

Daytona FL is my favorite airport. It's not very big, which makes it easy to maneuver around. While it has a quaint retro sort of charm, there is no mistaking it's modern amenities. The ease in which one can deplane and get through the airport is unmatched. Car rentals, buses, the parking lot are just steps from the entrance. I only wish I could travel this way in or out of any other airport.

Daytona beach is one of the best airports I have ever flown in and out of. Everything was so quick and easy. Airport was very clean and people were very helpful. Car rental staff were very friendly and suggested an upgrade to an SUV for only $10.00 per day so we went for it. You should not have any problems at this airport so I don't really have any tips. It was a total breeze and pleasure to fly into there.

Know that the airport is small and very efficient so don't worry about large time cushions. I would suggest that you do any grocery shopping before you cross the bridge to the hotel/beach strip, as it becomes much more expensive there. Cafe du Japon has amazing sushi. Aunt Catfish's has yummy salad bar. The beach is nice but I don't care for the fact that cars can drive on it bc it disrupts the peacefulness and made me have to worry about my toddler running into traffic. Parts of town are a little run down and it definitely feels a little like a forgotten beach town. But we were there in the off season and it did fill up on the weekend with a car show. I'm also sure that bike week gets pretty wild.

The Museum of Art and Science was a great surprise for us on a rainy day. Go to Crabby Joe's on the Sunglow Pier -- it sits out over the water, which you can see through the floorboards. Plus the food is pretty good & you can watch the surfers! The Ponce Inlet lighthouse area is great to explore, along with the nearby Marine Life rehabilitation center. Oh, and do the dinner cruise on the Indian River from New Smyrna Beach, and kayak with Calypso Tours through a mangrove swamp. We saw a lot of dolphins!

The beach in Ormond is more family friendly than Daytona Beach and the beaches all run together. Good cultural events at the Peabody Auditorium. The Boardwalk is family friendly and often has many activities including bands. I wasn't here as a tourist. I live in the area.
