It is very easy to travel into and out of Key West airport. Getting to the airport an hour before your flight is sufficient since it is a small airport. Having a beverage at the bar is extremely pricy so I wouldn't recommend it for the average traveler. I paid $3.60 for a bottle of water to take on the plane which again is outrageous. The person at the register recommended bringing an empty bottle with you and filling it at the water fountain. I will remember this when I return. The rest rooms were very clean - which is a plus.

In Key West you must take a sunset cruise. You must order Couch salad from Johnson Grocery (open at 10 am and call day before to have it waiting to pick up) and take it to the park Zachery Taylor for a day at the beach. (you only pay for car entry into the park and it a whole day pass). You can rent a chair but bring towels and snacks, drinks. (they do have a snack bar too). This is a great place but don't leave before sun set it is completely awesome!!!!!!! Great for kids and adults!!!!. Don't forget across the street from Johnson's is Blue Heaven home of the most wonderful key-lime pie ever. Next, if you like treasure and over the top history go to Mel Fisher Museum and pay attention the story is amazing. If you like booze and cool history you have to go to Ernest Hemingway's Rum (Papa Pilar) do the tour and tasting and ask for Mike he is SUPER!!!!!!! The last tip is do some shopping in Key West for sure (if you are looking a jewelry don't for get pawn shops) but don't spend all your money on crap!! Experiences will last a like time and make sure to do something cool everyday, that money spent, will be remembered a lifetime and bring your phone/camera!! There is so much to do resize just shopping!!!!!! ;)

Don’t wear clothing with bling. It sets off the body scanner. Carry a change of clothes in your carry on. You will probably want to immediately change into lighter clothing as soon as you disembark. Check out the gift shop. It has some pretty cool stuff. Just in case you forgot to buy a souvenir because you were drinking margaritas! Most of all: have fun!

Check out the Truman White House. If it's a rainy day, take a stroll through the Butterfly Conservatory. Definitely do not skip having dinner at Santiago's Bodega. They serve up delicious small plates, so it's best to order 2 or 3 plates and share. Fury Adventures does a very nice snorkel, kayak, and sunset package. Or just chill out at Smathers Beach. If you feel like venturing over to neighboring Stock Island, you can't go wrong with Hogfish Bar & Grill or Roostica for wood-fired homemade pizzas.

Leave all your winter clothes at home. The weather is so good in Key West that even packing a pair of jean's or sweatshirt isn't really necessary. You can always double up a t-shirt when the AC gives you the chills!

1. Pay 85 $ and get yourself the TSA "known traveler number" and you will enjoy their very efficient Pre-Check program. 2. Buy a day pass to your airlines lounge. Free drinks, snacks, and a relaxing sofa till your flight is call. Expect to pay $50-$60 but you can generally take a guest or two. 3. Buy spare batteries and an extra charger cord for your smart phone. 4. Bring zip lock bags--very handy. 5.pack your own food or buy it at the airport-- it will be better than anything in first class--trust me. I bring my own food even when I fly FC. 6. Always make your on line reservations just after midnight; if you want to put them on hold you will get a little over 47 hours to make a decision to buy; but your have protected the price! Bon voyage!!

Didn't spend time in Key West except for the airport which we have used for the past 10 years. Would highly recommend over Miami or Ft Lauderdale airports. Especially the ease of arrivals, departures and car rentals.

All ages: -Butterfly Conservatory [like walking through Cinderella's dream...sometimes they let the friendly rescued flamingoes interact with visitors] -Key West Garden Club [old civil war fort converted into a lovely donation-based botanical garden] -Sarabeth's restaurant [duck bacon eggs benedict was possibly the best I've ever had] -Sunset Celebration on Mallory Square [some great street performers] -Zachary Taylor State Park [nice beaches, cool fort, just a couple bucks for all-day entry] -The Hemingway House with lots of six-toed cats running around, a cool diversion if you're into Hemingway and/or odd cats, otherwise it's a bit pricey for what it is [$13 admission] -Mel Fisher Maritime Heritage Museum. Bizarre story. -I highly recommend renting a bike [lots of cheap cruiser bikes available] instead of relying on a car. The island is tiny enough to easily bike anywhere, the weather is lovely, and you won't have to deal with traffic/parking. Nightlife-y stuff: -Better than Sex dessert-and-drinks-only restaurant [chocolate and brie grilled sandwiches, for instance] -Drag shows! -I did a trivia night at a bar and can't remember for the life of me which bar it was, but it was fun. -There are organized local night-time bike rides. Actually, riding bikes around Key West at night, in general, is pretty magical.

We enjoyed the Palms Hotel on White Street. It was close to a fabulous restaurant, Sole, and good Cuban coffee across the street. There is also a marvelous sandwich stand, Pescado, one block away. The neighborhood was quiet and pretty and in walking distance of everything we wanted to see.
