Great airport for a town this size. Get to airport at least 2 hours before departure. There could be a long line to get through security. Have a meal and your coffee before you get here. Planes leave at or close to departure time so don't wonder away from gate. Be prepared to check carry on bag on crowded flights due to lack of storage space on board. Don't forget your own headphones for on flight entertainment. Captain Brian's is a great seafood place on Rt 41 near airport for a quick meal after arriving. Cheap gas on Rt 41 just north of airport, $2.16/gallon

Airport was easy to navigate. Baggage was on the turnstile before passengers were in area. Rental car desks were near as was the rental cars. Traffic flow around airport was busy but moved nicely. The whole airport experience made me feel welcomed.

Book your car ahead of time. Fast and easy pickup after flight. Location of rental cars very close. Bottom floor out the door and the cars are right there. Not a long walk at all. Fast and easy return. Took me less than 10 minutes to return my car and make my flight. I will definately do this again. Airport is very efficient when running late for flight.

Sarasota is FABULOUS! There are tons of things to see and do. We rode bikes through Robinson Preserve, toured the Ringling museum and walked beaches.

After you figure out where you want to go and how much it will cost to go there, then figure out activities to do while you are there. When it is closer to time to go figure out the weather and what clothing to pack. Groupon is a great app to use for things to do in the area you are traveling. Shop around for good deals

Sarasota/ Bradenton is fast. It’s half the drive to FT Myers or Tampa airport from our home in Venice Fl . The rental-car drop off is convenient and well lit at night The quick access and great customer service adds to the enjoyable experience. The one thing I don’t like is the spike in ticket prices to use this airport. I guess if you want convenience service and a home town feel... it costs $$$

Siesta key is a must see sea! Driving by the navy man and nurse kidding in Sarasota with the top down! St. Armand for some fabulous Columbia sangria and shopping! A trip to Anna Maria island is a must! Watching the patriots play on a Sunday afternoon sitting outside at the sniki tiki! Sunset on siesta key is amazing. Florida is best seen in a convertible.

First don’t drink and drive! Have a good time. Go to the beaches and enjoy the sunsets. Also have fun swimming, tanning and just being there. Go see the Military Cemetery on Route 70 maybe catch burial service of the unknown it’s awesome. Do some shopping. Go have a great dinner somewhere special.

Sarasota-Bradenton is a nice sized airport, way less hassle than flying into Tampa or Orlando. The rental cars for me were significantly cheaper at SRQ as well, compared to the other larger airports. I tend to shop around for the best prices when it comes to air travel and car rentals to find where I can find the best price, but if money was not a concern for me I would choose Sarasota-Bradenton Airport every time. They have connections to all the major hubs, the terminal gate area is smaller so you can quick get to your plane or to the baggage claim. Security is quick and easy to go through as well, and TSA agents are way friendlier compared to the larger airports. The car rental desk's are located right next to the baggage claim and it was a short walk across the street from the terminal to arrive at your rental.

Very nice airport easy to navigate, very clean , The layout of the airport is such that car rentals and baggage claims are expansive, A wide variety of food vendors is available. Traffic both to and from the airport is not congested. I would much rather use SRQ than Tampa or Ft.Myers. We stayed in hotels less than a mile from the airport due to an early flight. Convenience makes a difference.

Must sees are the beaches, especially Siesta Key and Lido Key beaches. Also, the Ringling Museum and Ca d'Zan. For restaurants and shopping go to St. Armand's Circle. Kayaking in the mangrove tunnels on Lido Key is fun for the whole family. You can take a boat tour with a naturalist at Myakka State Park and see the alligators. Also nice boat tours around Sarasota Bay to see dolphins who live there.

Great airport because of its size; hardly ever a long line. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It is always very clean. Only drawback is because it is small, not much in the way of food or shopping options. We find that the ease of using this airport makes it worth having to take two flights, rather than flying directly to Tampa. Definitely worth travelling here in the off season to enjoy all it has to offer without the traffic and crowds. There are some great foodie restaurants, and lots of museum, music and art centers to explore.

Alleviate any self inflicted concern about making your flight. Budget time wisely to ensure you are at airport 2 hours before flight. Nothing is more stressful than arriving at the airport and seeing TSA lines stretching seemingly indefinitely and realizing you might not make your flight! Instead of cramming one more task in before rushing late for your flight, with modern airport WiFi connectivity, you can finish those mandatory emails or phone calls in a more relaxed manner. You may even have time to reward yourself for your timeliness with a purchase at the airport of a new read or beverage. Arriving 2 hours before departure is not just a suggestion to benefit the air industry, your physical and mental health will thank you for it.

Travel Light: most people don't wear all the clothes that are packed. This includes clothes and toiletries. Personally, I spend too much time looking for things. Be courteous to people doing their job, in turn, you will be rewarded in kind. Breathe. Travelling is stressful and usually it all works out the way it should. Enjoy your time.

I love shopping, eating, and enjoying a cocktail at St. Armand's Circle. So many choices. I stay on Longboat Key which is just beautiful, walking on the white sand beach and marveling at all the wonderful wildlife. It is paradise!

The weather was perfect (mid-January) and really felt good coming from the North. Longboat Key is a great place to visit and eat. St Armand's circle is great for eating and people watching. O'Leary's Tiki Bar is a wonderful place for a beer, sandwich and looking at the big boats docked at the marina.

reasonable $$ rate/gallon if gas is required. I was running late, didn't have a chance to fill the quarter tank required. I believe the charge was in excess of what I would have paid at a gas station. I will be renting more cars in the future as now I have a secondary residence.

Siesta Key is the bomb. :) Until the sand settles (5-2015) from replacement down near Turtle Beach...go the other way...meaning...take a right when you get onto the key. where the sand is soft and beautiful and upon entrance to the water...steady level bottom.

Choice of excellent seafood restaurants; outstanding botanical garden with great orchid collection; Art museum that is part of the Ringling estate is well worth the visit. Sarasota Opera has a limited season (Jan-Mar), but is first class in all respects. For the outdoor type, take advantage of opportunities to get out on the water to explore wildlife, especially birds - and up the coast a ways, manatees.

I would recommend staying at least 20 miles south of Sarasota if you travel during Jan, Feb or March as the traffic is horrible.
