It was great, except that my luggage didn’t show up. That was probably SFO’s fault. It did take from 10:30am til 9:30pm to get my luggage, however. That might have been on Palm Springs. We had to change our plans because they were golf clubs and we were not able to play golf that day. We did get a $50 credit from United, but I would much rather have been able to keep our tee time.

Dropping off people at airport is so simple, directions are clearly marked. Dropping off car was easy and quick, just follow signage. Small airport means you don't have to be 3 hours early. All Airport facilities are fairly clean and attended to. Don't rush to p/u checked bags, 25 ft. from Car Rental desk. Like always, treat Airport staff as you like to be treated and they will be polite and helpful back, we were happy with PSP personnel

Best travel tips: Plan ahead- do your airline check in in advance, pack ahead of time, arrive early and arrive prepared - this will minimize the stress that can derail your whole travel experience and get your trip off to a negative start. Stay hydrated! Always pack a snack - the last thing you need is to be hangry while travelling. Stop and take a deep breath every now and then- calms the nervous system which is usually on high alert while travelling. Be kinder than necessary- it’s all too easy to snap at the person In line or at flight crew or airport personnel- yes you are tired, and travelling takes a toll, but if you give a little kindness or positivity to others you will notice that your trip will be that much better!

I have no tips beyond show up on time, check the big stuff and when possible show up having bathed within a week or two and never use a whole bottle of perfume or aftershave before boarding. Be nice and be flexible, learn to breathe thru your mouth because someone on your flight won't have taken my earlier advice. If you aren't delighted by crying children just pack some earplugs and thank some higher power that they aren't yours. Lower your gourmet expectations and enjoy that free pretzel and teaspoon of cola after all you purchased travel not dining and you could have been given even less. When you land in a city across the nation a few hours after you took off thank the crew that made it happen. Its still a pretty amazing thing even though it happens a lot!

1. Check for the currency being used for your reservation. 2. If you notice any irregularities with the car rental, have it addressed immediately. Our last rental with Budget had serious vibration issues at speeds over 40 mph. Budget was good about giving us a different vehicle although they did not give any discounts for the inconvenience and extra travel to the airport. Other Budget dealers would not address the issue. 3. Check your receipt immediately at time of return. We had prepaid and yet received a bill of $19.52 USD. Upon inquiring, Budget realized their computer system had charged us the fee for empty tank return even though the tank was full.

Tram and Joshua Tree park. Great hiking. The living zoo was also a great experience. Great restaurants and outlet shopping available. Palm Springs is an easy town to get around. Golfing was great. Overall weather was super except for the one day of rain, but this turned out to be snow on the top off the mountain that the tram visits. That was pretty cool having the sharp contrast of weather from the bottom of the mountain to the top of the mountain. Will visit again in the future.

It was very easy to navigate through the airport. Drop off of rental car and getting to the departure was a little hectic as where you drop off rental vehicle you have to go thru where everyone that just arrived are waiting for their luggage and getting their rental cars, but it is very straight forward. I will definitely use this airport again.

When returning the car, if you are with someone on same itinerary, drop them out front the airport departures desks, then while they check you in and get bags checked in, the other person can drive the car back to the other end of airport property to return the car. When leaving Palm Springs the PSP car rental return signs take you right by the terminal so drop off your companion and luggage at your airline's door and then continue to the car rental return area. At PSP you have to leave the airport road and turn on to the main road and then drive about 50 ft. to the rental return entrance. Turn in the car and then It is an easy walk, without luggage, to the terminal.

This was our first trip to Palm Springs and using HolidayCars.com - both were great. The Palm Springs airport is small and enjoyable with outdoor cafes in the terminal. Our party arrived over a couple hour period so some of us had time to stop for a coffee and bite. The rental car counter is right in the baggage claim area so that was a breeze and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Since the airport is small the walk to the rental car was only a few hundred feet and the car was right where they said it would be. Palm Springs weather was beautiful (be ready for some warm temps!) and the area is easy to navigate. Returning the car was just as easy. Great trip that would not have been so fun if the car rental hadn't been such a breeze! Thank you HolidayCars.com

For sure rent a car from your company to start! The car was clean and in great condition. While in PS you have to drive up to Joshua Tree National Park - Especially if there is a super bloom like we enjoyed! There's something truly amazing about a desert carpeted with brightly coloured flowers as far as the eye can see. Then you have to go to Pioneer Town to Pappys restaurant and have the chili to start then anything else on the menu - Its all so good. Swim A LOT! Then go for happy hour at the Hilton downtown - Best deal. If you're into crowds of happy people then go to the Thursday night street market - The Food! The stuff! The ART! It was a real blast!!

Create a checklist at least one month in advance of departure. Review and amend the list 3 times prior to departure and then print the final version. Start packing what you can 3 days in advance of departure and cross it off the list. Make .pdf copies of all reservations and store them on your smartphone and tablet/laptop for easy retrieval if you lose the printed copes of your reservations. Plan to arrive at the airport much earlier than required to avoid lineups. With the extra time, make sure you have a good book to read to make your wait enjoyable while all the other late comers are stressing out while scurrying about. Bring your own food that is acceptable to clear security so that you can avoid the exorbitant food costs in airports and airplanes.

Rent your car from Budget. I am a single female and I had rented a very comfortable Nissan Versa that was perfect for my trip. After receiving a detailed map from the attendant, I was able to map out and access all areas of interest within the Coachella Valley. I checked out the Living Desert Botanical Garden, Shield's Date Farm, Joshua Tree National Park and played 2 of the Desert Classic 2019 PGA golf courses in La Quinta. I loved my trip and I loved having the independence of a vehicle to explore the entire valley. I will definitely will be back....and rent from Budget. There is a CVS about 4 blocks west of the airport drive on Ramon. Go there and buy sunscreen. 4. Ask directions to the CVS from your friendly counter person at Budget Car Rental, the best car rental agency in the USA, and probably the whole world! 5. When asked a question, limit your reply to answering the question. A surfeit of details is what can get you into trouble. 6. Always call Budget when you need the best car rental deals in the USA or anywhere for that matter.

Palm Springs in the fall is a great get-a-way for those who want to get a bit of sun and more importantly, a fair amount of golf! If your main interest is golf, beware that many 36 hole courses may only have one course that is playable. Maintenance work on golf courses seems to happen at the end of October to mid-November which may limit full access. The benefit to limited course play is that the golf fees may be lower than usual. If you are flying in with kids, luggage AND your golf clubs (in hard or soft cases), make sure that you reserve a vehicle that is big enough to get your family and all of their luggage to your accommodation in one trip. Hertz provided us with a compact SUV (Oldsmobile Encore) which was easy to drive and equally easy on gas! However, had we been travelling with our kids, we would NOT have had enough room to fit everyone including luggage and our golf clubs. Remember that 9 distinct cities make up the Greater Palm Springs area. What you want to do and where you stay can definitely increase the number of miles you put on your rental car so it is worth it to do a bit of research first if a fair amount of driving is not your preference!
