Palm Springs is very well known for Coachella but has a lot more to offer when Coachella isn’t going on. There is something for everyone to do. This was our first trip to Palm Springs and using HolidayCars.com - both were great. The Palm Springs airport is small and enjoyable with outdoor cafes in the terminal. Our party arrived over a couple hour period so some of us had time to stop for a coffee and bite. The rental car counter is right in the baggage claim area so that was a breeze and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Since the airport is small the walk to the rental car was only a few hundred feet and the car was right where they said it would be. Palm Springs weather was beautiful (be ready for some warm temps!) and the area is easy to navigate. Returning the car was just as easy. Great trip that would not have been so fun if the car rental hadn't been such a breeze! Thank you HolidayCars.com

For sure rent a car from your company to start! The car was clean and in great condition. While in PS you have to drive up to Joshua Tree National Park - Especially if there is a super bloom like we enjoyed! There's something truly amazing about a desert carpeted with brightly coloured flowers as far as the eye can see. Then you have to go to Pioneer Town to Pappys restaurant and have the chili to start then anything else on the menu - Its all so good. Swim A LOT! Then go for happy hour at the Hilton downtown - Best deal. If you're into crowds of happy people then go to the Thursday night street market - The Food! The stuff! The ART! It was a real blast!!

Create a checklist at least one month in advance of departure. Review and amend the list 3 times prior to departure and then print the final version. Start packing what you can 3 days in advance of departure and cross it off the list. Make .pdf copies of all reservations and store them on your smartphone and tablet/laptop for easy retrieval if you lose the printed copes of your reservations. Plan to arrive at the airport much earlier than required to avoid lineups. With the extra time, make sure you have a good book to read to make your wait enjoyable while all the other late comers are stressing out while scurrying about. Bring your own food that is acceptable to clear security so that you can avoid the exorbitant food costs in airports and airplanes.

Inspect the car before taking the wheel. I take pictures of all sides and especially any possible damage. Before and sometimes after.

I love this airport. It’s small and efficient. I like the outdoor components are nice. Do go downtown Palm Springs on Thursday nights for the night market. We like to make a reservation at one of the great downtown restaurants (around 5:30) to get parking before the market. Get a map of the homes of the old Hollywood stars. It’s fun to follow and see where stars like Marilyn Monroe, Bob Hope and Bing Crosby spent their time in Palm Springs. Most visitor information centres have them.

Rent your car from Budget. I am a single female and I had rented a very comfortable Nissan Versa that was perfect for my trip. After receiving a detailed map from the attendant, I was able to map out and access all areas of interest within the Coachella Valley. I checked out the Living Desert Botanical Garden, Shield's Date Farm, Joshua Tree National Park and played 2 of the Desert Classic 2019 PGA golf courses in La Quinta. I loved my trip and I loved having the independence of a vehicle to explore the entire valley. I will definitely will be back....and rent from Budget. I have always been able to rely on them for excellent service and a dependable and comfortable vehicle that make all of my trips stress free!!

1. Drink lots of water in PS, even if you don't feel thirsty. 2. Always turn to Budget for your car rental needs, anywhere, anytime. 3. There is a CVS about 4 blocks west of the airport drive on Ramon. Go there and buy sunscreen. 4. Ask directions to the CVS from your friendly counter person at Budget Car Rental, the best car rental agency in the USA, and probably the whole world! 5. When asked a question, limit your reply to answering the question. A surfeit of details is what can get you into trouble. 6. Always call Budget when you need the best car rental deals in the USA or anywhere for that matter.

Even if you have phone navigation, look at a map of the route before driving. My phone acts up! If you’re going to need a towel at sometime, get a Turkish towel from Amazon or elsewhere. These towels quickly dry, and they take up little room in your luggage. Forgot your USB outlet? Most TV’s have a USB port or two on the side or back.

Pre book the car. Much easier than not pre-booking which I have also done at this airport. It is nice to walk out and get into the fresh warm air right away. Takes the stress of travel away then you are in a better frame of mind to wait for your bags or car rental line up.

Palm Springs in the fall is a great get-a-way for those who want to get a bit of sun and more importantly, a fair amount of golf! If your main interest is golf, beware that many 36 hole courses may only have one course that is playable. Maintenance work on golf courses seems to happen at the end of October to mid-November which may limit full access. The benefit to limited course play is that the golf fees may be lower than usual. If you are flying in with kids, luggage AND your golf clubs (in hard or soft cases), make sure that you reserve a vehicle that is big enough to get your family and all of their luggage to your accommodation in one trip. Hertz provided us with a compact SUV (Oldsmobile Encore) which was easy to drive and equally easy on gas! However, had we been travelling with our kids, we would NOT have had enough room to fit everyone including luggage and our golf clubs. Remember that 9 distinct cities make up the Greater Palm Springs area. What you want to do and where you stay can definitely increase the number of miles you put on your rental car so it is worth it to do a bit of research first if a fair amount of driving is not your preference!

The Palm Prings airport is small and easy to get in and out of. Luggage pick up is very fast so hardly any delays upon arrival. The car rental pickup counters are conveniently at the carrousels so you can get your car while your luggage arrives and you’ll be ready to go! The process of going through security is the same anywhere so don’t underestimate it. Pull out your toiletry bag and electronics and place on bin with your shoes and you’ll save yourself the evil eye fron TSA and security will go much smoother. Happy travels!

-Ensure you bring a photo (smart phone is fine) of your own insurance policy if you are declining that coverage. -bring your own gps if they are not built in to your rental as the mobile ones are an extra charge. - keep you valuables in the trunk out of sight and only until you can put them safely in your hotel room -do the initial walk around with the car rental person and don’t be afraid to call our small scratches or imperfections. - talk to the hotel consierge to find out what areas you may want to avoid at night

The car rental counters are just inside by the luggage pick up center. They are all next to each other and very quick service with all rental cars on property. If you are searching and are bringing your car back too early, (before counter opens) just adjust your time to the time the rental car counter is open as they all have a key drop off. This will allow you to see all available rentals.

Palm Springs International Airport is beautiful and convenient. Its open-air areas are wonderful, particularly on the sunny 80 degree days on which we traveled. Leave time for a bite, a drink, and relax before your flight. Signage is clear and the airport is relatively small so it's easy to navigate. It's also easy to navigate to the city of Palm Springs, which is only a couple miles away. The desert landscape and surrounding hills and mountains are breathtaking.

Udget is conveniently located inside the airport . Once you sign the contract it is a short walk out thr door and right into the parking lot to get your car. We were upgraded for free to the next sized car which was also great. The car was clean and had a full gas tank. Again, the location is excellent, and you pull out of thr parking lot and you can get to thr city in a minute. We would definitely hire a car theough Budget on any future trips to Palm Springs.
