1. Book your car rental ahead of your trip to get the best rate. 2. Check the car over thoroughly before leaving the rental car lot, noting every mark, dent and window crack before leaving or they may charge you for the damages. 3. Be pleasant to the car rental agent, they are only trying to do their job - and you might find yourself getting an upgrade. 4. When booking a hotel, check and make sure the rate you are quoted includes everything - often parking is an additional charge that only shows in the small print after you have booked what you thought was a great rate. 5. Having a GPS won't just make sure you get to where you are going without error, but it may also save you time based on traffic volume and accident reports you don't (yet) know about. 6. Always plan to leave early for the airport because if something will go wrong it will, and it is far better to be waiting for the plane at the gate than it is to panic about being late.

Travel in and out of airport via shuttle from rental car agency was fast and easy. Tax on rental car is absurdly high. We had to pay an extra $49 rental tax at Budget toward some new facility the airport is building. This is not Budget's fault. Last month I rented from Ace and didn't have to pay it. The Southwest terminal is very nice, with comfortable seats and phone charger ports.

I found LAX to be a well designed and easy to navigate airport. I'm not sure TSA Pre Check was any faster than the regular security line, but that wasn't their fault and ultimately I still got through security fairly quickly. My only complaint is that identifying certain gates wasn't as straightforward as it could have been. I had to double back after passing my gate, and then ask an employee what gate I was at because it was prominently indicated. So travelers should perhaps allow a little extra time for that. Altogether it was one of the better airports I've been to. Also it was nice to pass the multi-colored tiled wall that has been used in films such as Jackie Brown and Point Blank.

LA airport is good but it’s a small one.. on arrival, the immigration was fast enough but it can get busy if more than one flight lands.. The departure experience was good but there are very limited options for shopping or anything.. our flight was delayed by more than 4 hours and there aren’t any resting chairs or anything.. people were started sleeping on the floor!! It would be a good idea to have lay over areas where there are international flights and connections...

1. Los Angeles Airport has vastly improved the flow of vehicular traffic through the airport and it perimetre. 2. As a result, the Car Hire shuttle buses are much more regular and the waiting time for them to appear to pick up passengers has been vastly reduced. 3. The airport generally has had a huge injection of investment to speed up 'passenger processing'. 4. The airline specific terminals are a joy to go through, as the queues for the automated Immigration Processing Machines are virtually non-existent. 5. The Thomas Bradley International Terminal is still 'work in progress and still needs a little bit of time to reach the standards of the Airline specific terminals. 6. The Government staff working at the Airport appear to be much more friendly and helpful. They must have all been sent to Schools of Charm in lieu of their Christmas bonuses!

Fox and Thrifty are next to each other, outside the airport (for shuttle purposes). If you are taking off from LAX early in the morning and you spend the previous night in one of the LAX hotels, choose one close to Fox, and drop off the car the night before, so you do not need to pay the steep parking fee at your hotel. Fox is a short (safe) walking distance to many-many hotels with their own shuttle to the airport. As this is a low-cost rental, be aware that the cars could have some dents and scratches. You do not need to take the car and you can ask for another if you are not happy as the customer service is very friendly.

I was hesitant to rent with Sixt as it is not as well known as other brands but was impressed with customer service quality. The only issues I had was with the car itself. I booked a BMW X5 but was told it was not available and was given a Land Rover. The car was 2019 model and looked nice outside but interior had large stained spots. But the worst thing was the steering. The SUV rode like its steering rack is loose. Very scary on the highway.

Always be ready for changes such as plane delays. Be sure to allow enough time to transfer planes during layovers if needed. Also, know the layout of the airport of the city to understand how much time it may take to move from one gate to another, or even in some cases one terminal to another. Luggage can look alike so mark your bags very clearly so others do not take your bag. Also, if your checked baggage has to be moved from the plane because it has been grounded for mechanical reasons (like ours was) your bags can be easy to identify and transferred to the right plane that you choose to take to continue your trip. Keep a change of clothes and things you might need in your carry on just in case. This has been helpful to me twice. Look at reviews before selecting a place to eat at the airport. For things that happen that are out of your control just do the very best you can to find a solution, relax the best you can, and don't blame the poor folks who are doing what they can to help. My experience is the better you treat people the more they are willing to go out of their way to help you.

1. Planning in advance - accommodation, transportation (car rental) and timing of the visit (Mar. - May and Sep. - Nov.) do matter. 2. Communication might come usful and is advised - get your SIM card upon arrival - there are plenty of options in the area of the Airport. 3. Safety and security above all - make sure you do not wander in the shady areas and do not flash with your cards/ money/ cell, etc. 4. Go and see around the city - get yourself a map/ get in a car and navigate to the most scenic places and enjoy it. 5. Proper clothing also matters - make sure you are dressed appropriately, thus a cap/ hat might be necessary during Summer days and a jacket in the Autumn. 6. There is plenty options for accommodation, however its quality and prices vary - make sure you choose the one that suits your plans and expectations and book it in advance. 7. Last, but not least - enjoy your holidays!

Another travel To-Do is flexibility, giving yourself time and space between activities or agendas creates less anxiety and allows for maybe unexpected good surprises. Traveling is getting to see different places that really just show us how we are actually quiet similar, rushing just blinds that. Get out of the city and get into nature! I travelled out of LA and camped through out the national parks up to Sacramento. I had a great time and would definitely recommend it. All the campsites I stayed at had rangers who lived on site to answer any questions and help you out where they can. The facilities were all very clean and tidy. Each site was well maintained and provided you with a bear box, table, and fire pit. Despite being a young female travelling alone I always felt safe in the parks and at campsites. Searching for lodging outside a major city will get you better deals and usually worth driving an extra 30 minutes to get the best value. If you know you'll be in the desert for the whole day or more, food will be hard to find. Stock up on liquids and snacks since these places won't have a restaurant in sight. Be prepared for your excursion by heading to a Target or Home Depot to get supplies like sunscreen, insect repellent, flashlights, and other necessary supplies for your trip. In very desolate areas with no cell service, make sure to gas up as frequently as possible. Being stuck in the middle of the desert is never a fun time.

The best travel tip that I can give is to always be prepared, especially for delays! Get a neck pillow, bring jackets (airports and aircrafts are FREEZING) and don't check anything you might need if you get stuck on an extended layover. I would also stress that getting the luggage set is worth it. It was my first trip with my kids and I tried to keep all of their stuff limited to a backpack each but our trip would have been so much easier if I had gotten them one stow-away-sized piece of luggage each. I will definitely be upgrading for next year! Lastly, always ask your stewards questions, even if it sounds dumb - that's what they are there for! I've had a bad experience with trying to find a connecting flight and nearly missing my flight because of it, and my stewardess gave me step-by-step directions to find where I was supposed to board next. She was a real help!

Check your holiday insurance and car insurance if you are travelling from the united Kingdom. You may be covered for insurance through that. If not, make sure you buy insurance for the car in advance. This could be costly when at the airport. Make sure what fuel the car uses. When checking around the car, make sure you also check in the car and under seats. When at fuel stations in America, fuel needs to be paid for first. If the tank takes around 50 to 60 dollars of fuel, pay for 60 so that it can be refunded and you don't worry about not having enough fuel or going back to ask for some more fuel. the Make sure you have plenty in the tank before making a big journey.

What I seen of LAX was minimal, but what I did see was basic. I honestly expected more from such a large hub. Arriving there isn't much, but that's par for the course at arrivals anywhere. On our return to departures, everything went smoothly and we were ticketed and dropped bags with ease. Staff friendly but not very knowledgeable. Security was straightforward, albeit a little slow. The only real disappointment was the poor selection of shopping and dining in departures, as we had a few hours to kill. This was terminal 2, perhaps there's a better selection in the other terminals.

The bus to terminal 6 (Alaska) took a while during peak rush hour (>15 minutes), almost making us late, if not for the airline delay (not related to us). I wonder how it would do for terminal 8. LA Irport is a very busy place with lots of lines and waiting. But overall it is accessible. The biggest suggestion I can make is check in efore you get to airport so your boarding group is sooner. They have changed procedures and it doesnt explain in detail anywhere. But if you are in boarding group 7 or higher there wont be room for u to store baggage. It seems people can pay for priority boarding so can get storage space. Even checking in 24 hours early my boarding group was a 6 and I have yet to ascertain exactly how one gets earlier boarding group. I recommend getting at least some food in the concourse for on the.plane because 1 plane unexpectedly didn't have food. Also the waits are long on the plane. I also recommend a bathroom trip before u get on plane. They pack peoe in So tight it's hard to leave your seat and have to navigate drink carts etc. when you get up.

Reason for this is that the city and most of its' different attractions are spread out. You can get by using a combination of public transit and/or Uber but expect to spend a lot more time moving between places. A 30 minute drive between Hollywood and Santa Monica will take around 3 times that long with a bus. Traveling by car in LA is usually a enjoyable experience. There's some great drives around the area even though you stick to the highways. It's generally recommended to avoid the biggest rush hours which tend to be the busiest commuting times between 7 and 9AM and 5 to 7PM and Saturday early afternoon. Traveling in less busy times of the day also gives you the added benefit of being able to find free parking next to popular tourist destinations. For example it's possible to find free parking around Hollywood's walk of fame on weekdays before 6PM.

LA and southern California have a deep diverse culture of people and traditions and a wonderful history. I would say follow the history....It will take you to all of the places of interest and provide wonderful stories; sights; food and entertainment. Venture out further from city center and find wonderful beaches, museums, theaters and more. Don let the traffic get you down. Just deal with it and travel at non peak hours if possible. If you dont come back with a smile on your face and 10 lbs heavier, its your fault. Remember, your dont have to live there. You are only visiting. There is much to make a great visit. Cheers

L.A. Is an enormous city with a big diversity of neighborhoods and things to do. The food is great and there's beautiful mountains all around. Beaches are still pretty even if the weather is cooler in the winter. Traffic is deservedly famous for how bad it is and you need to think very carefully about where you stay. Santa Monica was great but we didn't love Sherman oaks. Topanga Canyon is a hidden gem that is definitely recommend.

Los Angeles is a great place to visit -- as long as you are prepared for traffic! Without exception, there were always heavy traffic delays (to and from airport, to and from downtown LA). I recommend using a good map app (i.e., Wayze) to help navigate. Had a great time exploring Chinatown (and its food). A trip to the top of OUE Skyspace Los Angeles offered a commanding view of metropolitan Los Angeles -- and a great view of the Hollywood sign. The glass slide from the top to the floor below provided fun for the whole family.

Don't use Fox -10 Stars..... My experience was a disaster. After waiting for over an hour to get picked up, I found myself and 20 other clients being told Fox was out cars and my wait would be between 1-1/2 hours to 2 hours. I was forced to leave and make other arrangements. I’m very dissatisfied given that a quick check on trip advisor showed numerous complaints about Fox’s LAX operation over the last year. LA is a Blast but always check Trip Advisor.
